Health Care Professional EHR Vendors

EHR Vendors Reported by Health Care Professionals Participating in the CMS EHR Incentive Programs and the ONC Regional Extension Centers Program

Note: Within a health care professional's EHR system, a primary EHR is a complete EHR or, if the professional does not have a complete EHR, it is the EHR that meets the most Meaningful Use criteria. If a professional has two or more complete EHRs, all of these EHRs are considered primary for the purpose of this report. A secondary EHR is any additional modular EHR used within the professional's EHR system. *77 of the 693 Other Vendors only supply secondary EHRs to participating health care professionals. Of the 616 Other Vendors that supply professionals their primary EHR, 444 vendors supply a primary EHR to less than 100 total professionals with 193 vendors supplying a primary EHR to fewer than ten total health care professionals.

Summary:

As of June 2014, 723 health IT vendors supply certified EHR products to 450,350 health care professionals participating in the CMS EHR Incentive Programs and/or ONC REC Program.

Epic Systems, Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, NextGen Healthcare, and GE Healthcare comprise over 50% of the market share of primary certified EHRs for participating professionals. Furthermore, the top 10 EHR vendors provide the primary EHR for 7 out of 10 professionals. Less than 5% of all professionals report a secondary EHR.
